Today we got to do VBS again. We have really enjoyed our music time during VBS. Our music leaders: Julie, Alison and Courtney are great! The kids love learning the new songs and all the motions to go with it.
Today in VBS we learned Romans 10:9 “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Complete with the motions to help the kids remember it.)
The recreation guys are great, too. But they are a lot harder to stop for a picture. The rec room is a busy place during the VBS day.
We are enjoying making new friends with the VBS kids.
Aand we are having some time for some pretty intense games of ping pong.
Some folks have even been spotted playing air instruments.
And most importantly at the closing rally one girl came forward to get more information about becoming a Christian.
After VBS Ms. Pam (and plenty of help) served us lunch ham, mac&cheese, green beans, and sweet potato casserole.
This is Jerry Frazier. He is the Associate Pastor at Groveton and has been working with us coordinating the VBS and the other activities that the mission team is doing.
Then it was back to the hotel for about an hour and a half of down time. Down time means different things to different people. The dividing line seemed to be about 18 years old – for those over 18 the down time meant napping, for those under 18 the down time meant hanging out. Then we went to a local water park to enjoy the afternoon.
After changing at the hotel, we went back to the church for dinner, provided by the folks at Groveton, and then back to the hotel for the earliest night we have had so far.
By the way, during our time we spent passing out the evangelistic CDs around town we have had some good interaction with folks. Responses have ranged from a Home Owners Association official who wanted us to leave her neighborhood, to another lady (in the same neighborhood) who said that she had recently moved from Georgia and “really needed to join Groveton Baptist” (let’s pray that she does get reconnected with a local church, to the person who called the church and thanked them for giving them the CD. So we are having an impact in the community.
Please keep praying that God will continue to use us for his glory in Alexandria,
and that he will keep on getting us closer to him through our service to him.
