Music Ministry

Adult Choir

Purpose

Down through the ages, singing has been an outward reflection of an inward emotion or thought. Singing is a primary means by which one communicates to others something that must be shared.

How better can we, as believers, communicate to the Heavenly Father our love and thanksgiving to Him, while testifying to a lost and dying world that Christ is Lord of all!

Therefore, the task of our Church Choir is to lead in the worship of our Savior. Our primary mission is to usher in the presence of God.

Who?

Adults eighteen years of age and older who want God to use their talent in singing, and are committed to this purpose, are welcome to join our Church Choir.

When?

Our Church Choir sings every Sunday in the 10:30 a.m. worship service and on occasional Sunday evenings. We rehearse on Wednesday from 7:35 PM until 9:15 PM in the Choir Rehearsal Room.

How?

For more information on the Church Choir, contact our Minister of Music and Administration, Bro. Gary Morton, at (478) 923-7101.

Speaking to one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord. --Ephesians 5:19

Adult Orchestra

Purpose

From the earliest Greek lyre, to the harp David used to soothe Saul’s mad rages, to the modern orchestras used by churches, musical instruments have been used not only to enhance religious services, but often assigned a divine status of their own.

The use of musical instruments in church has had phenomenal growth in the past few years. The added drama of a well-placed timpani roll or the unquestionable beauty of a solo flute has once again been discovered.

Therefore, the purpose of our orchestra is to allow instrumental musicians to use their God-given talents in praise and worship unto their Maker.

Who?

Adults eighteen years of age and older are welcome in the Church Orchestra. High school juniors and seniors are permitted to join the Church Orchestra, provided they are active in--and remain faithful to--the Youth Orchestra.

When?

Our Church Orchestra plays in both of our Sunday services at Second Baptist (10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.). Rehearsal is on Wednesday evening from 7:35 PM until 9:15 PM in the Main Worship Center.

How?

For more information on the Church Orchestra, Youth Orchestra, or Conservatory of Music, contact our Minister of Instrumental Music, Bro. Jeff Cleghorn, at (478) 923-7101.

Praise the Lord with the harp; make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings. Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a shout of joy! --Psalm 33:2-3

Our Youth Orchestra is open to students in the sixth through twelfth grade with at least one year of playing experience in a school band program, OR at least two years of private instruction.
