Dawson Hull

Director of Instrumental Music

Dawson Hull is a pianist, composer and conductor. He recently graduated from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University where he earned his Master's degree in piano. Prior to Peabody, he graduated Samford University in Birmingham, AL, where he majored in piano performance and theory/composition. He has studied piano with Alice Adams Jackson, Dr. Betty Sue Shepherd, Dr. Beth McGinnis, Dr. Thomas Hecht, and Marian Hahn. He was the 2003 recipient of the Betty H. Miller/Betty Sue Shepherd Scholarship. Dawson has appeared as soloist with the Paducah Symphony Orchestra, the Delta Symphony Orchestra, the Jackson Symphony Orchestra, the Samford University Orchestra and the Southeastern Chamber Orchestra. Dawson was also the 2005 recipient of the Fletcher-Morris Scholarship and the 2006 Presser Foundation Scholarship. He was the winner of the 2005-2006 state division of the Music Teachers National Association Collegiate Artist Competition as well as the 2005 and 2006 Concerto Aria Competition. Also a composer, he has written orchestral, chamber, choral, and solo instrumental works under Dr. Ronald Boud, Dr. James Jensen and Bob Burroughs. Choirs of Samford and other professional chamber ensembles have premiered his compositions. Dawson frequently performs solo and chamber recitals throughout the mid-south and has most recently appeared in master classes with Leon Fleisher, Awadagin Pratt, Enid Katahn, Santiago Rodrigrez, and Yakov Kasman. He is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Order of Omega, Lambda Chi Alpha, and Pi Kappa Lambda. During his time at Peabody, he worked as a Graduate Assistant in Music Theory, the Minister of Music at The Church on Warren Avenue and served as the Artistic Director for the Warren Fine Arts Academy of Music. Dawson is currently the Director of Instrumental Music at Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins, GA where he lives with his wife, Taneea, also a recent graduate of Peabody.
 

 

Wendy Shaw

Administrative Assistant

Wendy Shaw is a native of Bonaire and has been teaching voice with the Conservatory since it began in 1997 with a small leave of absence for about 4 years.  Wendy returned to teaching in 2003 when she and her husband moved back to Warner Robins.  By day she works for Second Baptist as one of the administrative assistants to the Music Ministry.

She attended Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland, Georgia then transferred to Valdosta State to complete her BA in Music with a concentration in Vocal Performance. She studied with Catherine Logan while attending Truett-McConnell.  Wendy was a member of the Concert Choir as well as a member of the auditioned group, TMC Singers and active with the Baptist Student Union’s traveling music team Majesty.
 
While at VSU she studied with Dr. Carol Mikkelsen.  She sang in the Concert Choir with director David Johnson and was also a member of the auditioned group Chamber Singers.She enjoys teaching from the heart and loves to sing for and to the Lord.  Wendy and her family are members at Second Baptist Church.  She is one of the soloists for the Second Baptist Church Choir and along with her husband, William, is co-advisor to the Youth Praise Team elevate and the College and Career Praise Team.

Wendy and William have one child, Hannah.  God blessed them with her in 2007.  She is an amazing, precious child and loves music as much as her parents!
