How can I register for lessons?
You may register either online here or from one of our brochures. These are available in the church office, the Conservatory office, and in the Grand Lobby of the church. You may only register one student per registration form. If you wish to register more than one student or one student in multiple areas, please complete additional registration forms. Please fill out all forms entirely. Once the form has been submitted and the $25 registration fee has been paid, the student will then be officially registered for lessons.

What is the mailing address for the Conservatory of Music?

Second Baptist Church
2504 Moody Rd.
Warner Robins, GA 31088

How do I know which length of lesson to register for?

You may register for 30-minute, 45-minute, or 60-minute lessons. For small children as well as beginners, 30-minutes is usually appropriate. For older student who have had previous instruction and are at an intermediate level, they may wish to take 45-minute lessons. For advanced students, these are often most appropriate for advanced students or adults. If you do not know what level a student has obtained, you may call the Conservatory office at 478-923-7101 and ask for a recommendation. Please note that violin lessons are only offered in 45-minute or 60-minute lessons.

Will there be recitals and other performance opportunities?

Student recitals are held at the end of each semester, and all students are highly encouraged to participate. Students may also participate in Studio Gatherings, which provide a chance for students to play for each other in a semi-pressured environment. Voice, Violin, Piano, and Guitar students may participate our annual NFMC Festival and work toward achieving different ratings and gold cup trophies.

Will there be a set curriculum?

Individual teachers will determine which method books work best for their students.

Where will the lessons be held?

Lessons will be held in various classrooms of the Main Worship Center of Second Baptist Church.

What about security?
Security is a top priority at Second Baptist Church. We perform background checks on all of our instructors. Windows are provided in the door of each Conservatory classroom. Also, whenever there are lessons being taught in the Conservatory, there is a receptionist on hand to welcome students and to monitor the facilities.

Where do I enter the building for my lesson?
We ask that all students enter the building through the doors into the Grand Lobby. Parents may drop off their student under the circular drive but are asked not to park their car in this place.

Is the Conservatory open on holidays?
Lessons occurring on single day holidays (i.e. Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, MLK Day, President’s Day, etc.) will be taught as scheduled unless otherwise notified by your Instructor. Should your Instructor notify you of his/her intentions about such holidays, please contact them directly. Oftentimes they tell students or write it in their notebook. During Thanksgiving week, the Conservatory of Music is open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

When is tuition due?
Tuition is due before the first lesson. We will send you a bill. Students and parents also have the option to pay half of their tuition bill before the first lesson and the second half within 30 days. If tuition is not paid by the due date, no lessons will be taught to that student. Additionally, there will be a 20% late fee to all late payments.

What form of payments does the Conservatory accept?
You may pay with cash, checks, and Mastercard/Visa. At this time, we do not accept online payments. You may mail in cash or a check or pay with credit card over the phone or in person at the church office.

What is your attendance/withdrawal policy?
If for some reason during the semester you should decide to discontinue your lessons, our reimbursement schedule will be as follows.  We will reimburse you for the remaining lessons as long as you have not entered into the next paid month.  Example: If a term begins on September 10 and concludes on December 10, and you decide to discontinue your lessons during September and do not take any lessons in October, you will be reimbursed for prepaid lessons not taken in October, November, and December.  If you enter into any lessons in October, you will be reimbursed for prepaid lessons not taken in November and December.  If you enter into any lessons in November, you will be reimbursed for prepaid lessons not taken in December.  If you enter into any lessons in December, no reimbursement will be made.

What is your make-up lesson policy?
In the event that a student notifies the Instructor or the Conservatory Office advising as to illness, death in the family, or an unavoidable conflict that shall be deemed reasonable by the Instructor and the Conservatory Administrator, every effort will be made to schedule a make-up lesson for the student. However, if a student misses a lesson without giving 24 hours notice, the Instructor is NOT obliged to reschedule the lesson.  In the event that the Instructor has to be absent from lessons that he or she is scheduled to teach, it will be left up to the Instructor to set up a day and time to make-up this lesson with the student. It is the student’s responsibility to notify the Instructor if a lesson is to be missed for any reason.  Please see the bottom of your first bill for the Instructor’s contact information.  If the Instructor cannot be reached, the student should notify the Conservatory office.  Failure to notify the Instructor or the Conservatory office will result in no make-up lesson, and the student will not be refunded for the lesson that is missed.  The Conservatory office and the Instructors reserve the right to rule on whether a lesson is to be made up or not.  Instructors are only required to make-up two (2) lessons per semester.  After school work/sports conflicts by the student will not be considered a reasonable conflict; therefore, no make-up lessons will be scheduled to cooperate with the student’s work/sports conflicts.  If calling after the Church Office has closed, please dial extension 123 to reach the Receptionist in the Grand Lobby to cancel a lesson for that day.

Who do I contact if I have questions?
Contact the Conservatory of Music office at 478-923-7101 or wendys@sbcwr.org.

Do I have to fill out a new application each semester?
Each new student is required to fill out an application. The $25.00 application fee is annual. At the end of each semester, a student will need to indicate if he/she wishes to continue lessons into the next semester by completing and returning a shorter re-enrollment form. This will be mailed to the student by the Conservatory at the end of the fall semester.

How do I request a certain teacher?
Only returning students may select their teacher. New students will be assigned an instructor based on the student’s availability and skill level. For returning students, there is a form on the application where they may choose between the instructors. Please take time to visit the faculty bios section on our website.

Does the Conservatory of Music provide or rent instruments to students?
Students in the Conservatory of Music are responsible for providing their own instruments. Instructors can assist their students in finding a suitable instrument.
